Prime F. Osborn III Convention Center at a Glance
Prime F. Osborn III Convention Center occupies the former Jacksonville Terminal Union Station on the southern edge of the LaVilla neighbourhood. Fourteen Doric columns front a Neoclassical Revival portico that opens onto the Grand Lobby, a seventy-five-foot marble-walled barrel vault that shelters the original 1919 terminal fountain, pilasters, and chandeliers. Two divisible exhibit halls sit beyond the lobby, linked to a Grand Ballroom, twenty-two meeting rooms, and two pre-function galleries on a single level — the building remains the only Southern railroad station in the United States converted into a convention centre. The St. Johns River Riverwalk, Times-Union Center for the Performing Arts, Florida Theatre, and James Weldon Johnson Park are reached by Skyway ride or a short walk.
